Electrical Engineer / Controls Engineer

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a company who is at the forefront of the life science sector. We are looking for an electrical /control engineer to design and build robotic systems.  You will be liaising with with teams to ensure delivery of exciting new and existing products and custom machines. Our client is based in the Camberley/Farnborough area and is offering a competitive salary.

 

THE ROLE

Electrical Engineer / Controls Engineer

You will be responsible for..

  • Designing, specifying, analysing and implementation of machine safety systems
  • Producing the designs for electrical control systems for various projects including special purpose machinery and robotic systems. Understanding project requirements thereafter produce schematic diagrams, hook up diagrams and produce build instructions using CAD for production.
  • Estimating material and manufacturing costs including creation of BOM’s
  • Follow and adhere project timelines
  • Working with the internal purchasing department and external suppliers to ensure procurement of critical components
  • Contribute to risk assessment and good safety practices by maintaining an awareness of activities and reporting on potential areas of risk
  • Carry out feasibility studies for new products and technical innovations
  • Assisting in coordinating other technical team resources
  • Creation of testing, installation and commissioning procedures and analysing data

 

 

Key requirement/skills…

Electrical Engineer / Controls Engineer

  • Our client is looking for a:
  • Dedicated professional with Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree (Bachelors/Masters preferred, or equivalent considered) with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in designing systems around the industrial and collaborative robots
  • Knowledge of robotics, automation and/or bespoke machinery
  • Working knowledge of different communication protocols including TCP/IP, RS232 and Fieldbus systems.
  • Electronic circuit design and analysis
  • Experience in implementing common industrial control techniques including PLC’s , sensors, distributed IO, servo control and some pneumatic experience
  • Design software user: SolidWorks electrical preferred
  • Have a solid awareness and understanding of relevant British, European and International standards and understand the implications on design
  • Hands on working experience on the shop floor/field to support the manufacturing team & R & D activities
  • Has a complete and thorough knowledge of the discipline and frequently contributes to the development of new concepts, theories and principles
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and personal development
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. Solution oriented, autonomous and proactive working style
  • Self-motivated and organised, with effective time management, presentation and leadership skills, and adept in solving trouble/shooting complex problems as well as the ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment
